Check out the Hays County Food Bank website here!
The Hays County Food Bank was founded as a non-profit organization in 1984 with the goal of serving hungry people in San Marcos. They have since grown to service the entirety of Hays county. In 2016, they provided food, at no cost, for over 100,000 client visits through direct distribution and partner agencies.
As the Client Stories Intern, my primary goal is to interview clients of the Food Bank about their experiences with hunger and receiving food assistance. The stories collected are then turned into meaningful graphics and educational materials for the community. These materials are also shared with our donors so they can witness the impact of their generous donations. In addition to collecting and analyzing client stories, I have also been working on several other skills as an intern, which include but are not limited to:
- Database Management
- Data Entry
- Survey Design
- Interview Transcription
- Certification in the Community Partner Program through Texas Health and Human Services
